The story is pretty convoluted: The main and titular character, Christopher Hestian, goes door-to-door trying to convert people to his religion. He stumbles across a murder, gets an attractive female sidekick, traipses back and forth across the world, learns a whole bunch of so-called 'secrets' about religion that are probably meant to be really shocking, and ultimately unravels an enormous conspiracy between a famous painter (who put coded messages into everything he ever made) and an ancient order of knights. Most of it the interesting things seem cribbed from some other book, but something about the order of knights really resonates with you. The thought of them lingers in your mind long after you've forgotten the rest of the details. |
